The Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, for their second Lombardi Trophy.
Seattle’s Jason Myers kicked five field goals in the game, three in the first half and two in the second half. He capped Seattle’s opening drive with a 33-yard field goal, then connected from 39 yards, and he made his third field goal from 41 yards. His fourth field goal was also from 41 yards. He scored a fifth field goal, a Super Bowl record, from 26 yards.
Seattle scored its first touchdown in the fourth quarter on Sam Darnold’s 16-yard TD pass to AJ Barner.
The Patriots scored their first points of the game with a touchdown in the fourth quarter when Drake Maye lobbed a 35-yard pass to Mack Hollins.
In the fourth quarter, Devon Witherspoon hit Maye as he wound up to throw, and the ball went straight to Seattle’s Uchenna Nwosu, who ran it 44 yards for a touchdown.
Maye scrambled and then flipped to Rhamondre Stevenson for a 7-yard touchdown, the final points of the game.
The final score stood at Seahawks 29, Patriots 13.
Kenneth Walker III won the Super Bowl MVP award, becoming the first running back to do so since Terrell Davis did 28 years ago.
Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny headlined the halftime show. The show featured guest stars Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.
Bad Bunny began his halftime performance in a sugar cane field, walking past pickers and food stands as he performed his hit “Tití Me Preguntó.”
The halftime show also included a wedding celebration.
President Donald Trump criticized Bad Bunny’s halftime show as “absolutely terrible.”
“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day.”
