A Texas man was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly scaling the perimeter fence of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, according to the Secret Service.

Anthony Thomas Reyes, 23, was taken into custody by the Palm Beach Police Department after being detained by Secret Service personnel at the estate, a Secret Service spokesperson told The Epoch Times by email.

“Shortly after midnight, the individual scaled a perimeter fence and triggered alarms,” the spokesperson stated, adding that Secret Service agents detained Reyes at the scene without incident.

Palm Beach police responded to the Mar-a-Lago resort just after midnight and were met by Secret Service agents who had detained Reyes at the scene, according to a redacted arrest report obtained by The Epoch Times.

Secret Service agents told police they found Reyes on the property, and that he admitted to climbing “over the wall to get into the property.” Reyes did not have permission to access the site.

The last time Reyes was accused of trespassing at the estate was on Dec. 31, 2024, according to the arrest report.

The Secret Service spokesperson said that neither Trump nor any other Secret Service protectees were present at the Mar-a-Lago estate when the alleged incident took place.

“We appreciate the continued partnership and swift response of the Palm Beach Police Department,” the spokesperson stated.

Reyes has been charged with trespassing with the “intent to commit an offense” following the arrest. He was released on a $50,000 bond on June 4, according to public records from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

It remains unclear whether Reyes has been assigned a legal representative at the time of writing.

The White House said in an emailed statement to The Epoch Times that Trump is aware of the incident.

In September last year, 58-year-old Ryan Routh, of Hawaii, was arrested at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course after allegedly hiding out with a gun in an attempt to assassinate the then-presidential candidate.

Routh was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. Prosecutors said Routh camped near Trump’s Florida golf course for 12 hours before a Secret Service agent spotted the barrel of his gun and opened fire. The suspect then fled the scene.

Authorities later discovered an SKS-style rifle, a GoPro camera, and two backpacks near the golf course’s chain-link fence, about 400 to 500 yards from Trump as he was golfing. Trump was not harmed.

In July 2024, Trump survived an assassination attempt in which he was shot in the ear by a gunman while speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The incident raised questions about the Secret Service’s ability to protect him.
