The White House and President Donald Trump have weighed in on the disappearance of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie as officials have commented on new allegations, with the president signaling that he may send in more resources.

“The search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, is ongoing, and authorities are requesting assistance from the public. Anyone with information is urged to contact 911,” the White House said in a social media post on Tuesday.

As it shared a photo of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, it added, “Our prayers are with the Guthrie family as we hope for Nancy’s safe return home.”

Authorities are still searching as local officials have suggested she was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home against her will over the weekend. The local Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a post on Tuesday that it is investigating reports of an alleged ransom note sent to several media outlets.

Aside from the White House statement, Trump told reporters late on Tuesday that he would offer more federal help. When asked in the Oval Office if he would send more federal agents, he said, “Sure, I would.”

“I’m going to call her later on. I think it’s a terrible thing,” Trump told reporters. “I always got along very good with Savannah—very unusual situation, but we’re going to find out.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos held a news conference on Tuesday and urged the public to offer tips, but revealed few new details. Officials have finished combing through Nancy Guthrie’s home and turned it back over to the family, Nanos said.

He declined to say whether Guthrie’s disappearance was thought to be random or targeted or to describe the evidence found at her home. Investigators still don’t have a suspect or person of interest, the sheriff’s department said in a statement Wednesday morning.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on Saturday night at her Catalina Foothills home near Tucson, where she lived alone. She was reported missing on Sunday. Someone at a church called a family member to say Guthrie wasn’t there, leading family members to search her home and then call 911, Nanos said.

“We don’t see this as a search mission so much as it is a crime scene,” the sheriff said earlier this week.

Later on Tuesday, multiple media organizations reported receiving purported ransom notes that they handed over to investigators. The sheriff’s department said it’s taking the notes and other tips seriously but declined further comment.

Recipients of the notes included entertainment media website TMZ and local news station KOLD-TV.

In the note allegedly received by TMZ, there was a demand for millions of dollars in Bitcoin to be sent to a cryptocurrency address, the outlet said. The founder of the website, Harvey Levin, released a video on X saying that TMZ sent the note to local authorities.

Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie released a statement earlier in the week on social media asking the public for prayers for her mother’s safe return home.

“We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him,” Savannah wrote in a social media post. “Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. We need you.”
