An RCMP officer has been charged in connection with threats posted online directed at U.S. President Donald Trump.

RCMP Federal Policing Eastern Region announced on June 17 that officer Evenson Dumerlus, 34, of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., has been charged with uttering threats in connection with an alleged Snapchat post made while he was deployed on G7 security operations in Alberta in June 2025.

The post is said to have been made during security duties tied to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alta., which was attended by Trump.

The RCMP said a fellow officer reported Dumerlus’s video, which allegedly contained “threatening comments” directed toward the president. Following an investigation, he was removed from his duties the same day the incident was brought to attention.

The RCMP did not disclose details on the nature of the alleged threat.

Dumerlus will appear at the St-Jean-sur-Richelieu courthouse in Quebec on July 30, according to the RCMP release.

“The RCMP takes seriously any threats that can affect one’s sense of security,” said the release. “Violent statements will not be tolerated. Perpetrators may face criminal charges involving significant sentences.”

The RCMP’s announcement came as Trump attended the annual G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, this week, alongside Prime Minister Mark Carney and other world leaders.
