A cat in southwestern Russia has sat in the exact same spot for about a year after its owners apparently abandoned it.
The pet was first photographed in 2015 sitting on a manhole in the city of Belgorod.

The story of the cat was posted on a Russian social media website by user Ostap Zadunayskiy, reported the Daily Mail.
“This is a great example of human meanness and true animal loyalty,” he wrote, while praising locals who continue to feed the cat.
Zadunayskiy said that locals said the owners used to live near where the cat waits each day. They sold their home around a year ago.
Many Internet commentators made reference to the book The Little Prince, written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, quoting the line: “You become responsible forever for what you’ve tamed.”
However, some criticized his story, saying that the cat—like many other cats—returns to the same spot every day to get fed by the locals, according to the Mirror.
