An Australian bank has apologised for an advertisement filmed at the London Olympics which contains scenes of a man being wrestled to the ground on suspicion of terrorism.

The advertisement by the Commonwealth Bank follows an ongoing theme where men wearing suits representing the letters C, A and N oppose a pessimistic fourth wearing a T.

The optimistic three are about to enter a women’s beach volleyball match when they report to a security guard that the T-wearer is behaving suspiciously and wearing a backpack that is making ticking noises.

The security guard ends up wrestling the T character to the ground.

The matter is sensitive in London which was the target of terrorist attacks in 2005 and is on high security alert during the Olympics.

The advertisement first appeared on the Commonwealth Bank’s YouTube site on Wednesday night but was quickly taken down after it was reported on news website Mumbrella.

The ad drew complaints on Twitter that it was insensitive.

The bank later issued an apology.

“The Commonwealth Bank apologises for the online video released to its YouTube Channel,” the bank said, according to Mumbrella.

“We acknowledge some concerns were raised and the material was withdrawn this morning.”

The bank also reportedly told the B&T website the advertisement was unapproved for release.
