Greg Olsen’s bushy, overgrown beard is no more. The Carolina Panthers tight end had vowed to cut off his bushy facial hair following the Super Bowl and the two-time Pro Bowler did just that—and has the photos to prove it. Here was what he posted on his Twitter account:

He seems to be pleased with the results.

Olsen explained in an interview leading up to the Super Bowl that he’s normally a clean-shaven person, but that he didn’t shave to start the season and then decided that as long as the team was winning he wasn’t go to change his routine. (Start at the 6:05 mark.)
Whether it was his routine—or the result of a lot of talent and team chemistry—Olsen’s Panthers marched to a 17–2 record this season, finishing as runner-ups to the Denver Broncos.

Olsen was a big part of that too. The former first-round pick originally came over to the Panthers via a trade from from the Chicago Bears (for a third-round pick) before the 2011 season—Cam Newton’s rookie year.
Since then he’s become one of Newton’s favorite targets, averaging over 800 yards receiving each year—including more than 1,000 each of the past two seasons.
