Eyewitnesses Describe Brussels Terror Attacks as Video Footage Emerges

At least 34 people are dead after terror attacks in Brussels on March 22, with eyewitnesses describing a chaotic scene of carnage.

Zach Mouzoun, who had just arrived on a flight from Geneva about 10 minutes before the first explosion, said a second, louder explosion brought down ceilings and ruptured pipes, mixing water with blood from victims.

There was blood everywhere, injured people, bags everywhere.

“It was atrocious. The ceilings collapsed,” he told BFM television. “There was blood everywhere, injured people, bags everywhere.”

“We were walking in the debris. It was a war scene,” he added.

Samir Derrouich, who works at a restaurant at the airport, told the Daily Mail: “The two explosions were almost simultaneous.”

He added: “They were both at check in desk. One was close to the Starbucks. It was awful. There was just blood. It was like the apocalypse.”

Jef Versele was also at the airport when the bombs went off, telling CNN that people started screaming and running through the terminals.

“A lot of people were on the floor. They were injured,” Versele said. “I think I was lucky, I was very lucky. I think I have a guardian angel somewhere.”

Struggling to describe the aftermath, he added: “We cannot believe it, it was so insane. You think not in my backyard.”

Sander Verniers was riding the subway when the train he was on, in between stations, came to a halt amid strange noises.

“We heard some noises that shouldn’t be there,” he said.

The train was evacuated and security forces guided them through smoke-filled tunnels.

Gavin Sheridan, who was outside the Maalbeek station when the metro bombs went off, said there were dramatic scenes in the area.

“A young lady walked passed me in tears,” he tweeted. “One clearly distressed and angry commuter shouted at the hacks [journalists] ‘You have no idea what’s down there. Bodies…’ before storming off.”
