Overall, his 18 Majors won are more than anyone else. Even now at age 76 “The Golden Bear” is recognized by most people—just not all security guards.

The Masters is the site of maybe his greatest triumph ever when a 46-year-old Nicklaus (some even referred to him as the “Olden Bear” at the time) stunned the rest of the field in 1986 with a final round 65, including a jaw-dropping six under par on the back nine holes to win it.
