Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s approval rating has slipped, with voters giving a 47–42 percent job approval rating in a Quinnipac University poll released Wednesday. The results are in contrast to a Sept. 12 poll that showed a rise in approval: a 35–54 percent rating.

The high numbers in September may reflect the public’s approval of how Bloomberg handled Tropical Storm Irene. Post-Irene, the mayor has declined in approval rating.

More New Yorkers voted that they think Bloomberg has lost focus during his third term, with 52 percent of voters saying he lost it, and 41 percent voting that he kept his focus. This is a rising trend, with 43–49 percent saying that he kept his focus in the July 27 poll.

Results revealed that 25–60 percent of New Yorkers still like their mayor as a person, regardless of his policies.
