After two men physically attacked two Falun Gong practitioners on the street of Chinatown, the San Francisco Superior Court issued a temporary injunction against them on July 10. The injunction was to protect the practitioners from being further attacked and harassed before the scheduled trial. The two men’s names are Chin Jingjun and Wu Yongyao.
According to the injunction, the attackers are not allowed to enter within 50 yards of the practitioners they are accused of assaulting, or they may be reported to police. The trial of the alleged assault is scheduled on Aug. 1.
The practitioners recently visited Washington D.C. to inform their federal representatives, including U.S. Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, of the attacks. They received invitations from both the senators to give a full account of the incident, according to Christine, a Falun Gong practitioner in San Francisco who was attacked.
On June 10, a number of Falun Gong practitioners were telling tourists and residents in Chinatown about the persecution of the practice in China. Several men struck at the practitioners. On June 16 a similar incident took place.
Video was recorded of the incident showing two men attacking the practitioners. Falun Gong spokesperson in San Francisco, Sherry Zhang, said there have been nine attacks against Falun Gong practitioners in the city over the past eight months. Zhang believes that the Chinese consulate is behind the incidents.
