Shooter Dead After Opening Fire on State Troopers at Bus Station in Virginia, Several Wounded, One Critically

UPDATE: The shooter has been shot and killed by a state trooper, according to a spokeswoman for Virginia State Police. One state trooper is suffering from life-threatening injuries and is being treated in the hospital. Two civilians are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A SWAT team is on the scene in Richmond, Va., after a shooter opened fire on state troopers in a Greyhound Bus Station at 2:45 p.m. on March 31.

There are several conflicting reports surrounding the shooting.

According to a press release from the Virginia State Police (VSP), one trooper and two civilians have been transported to VCU Medical Center for treatment—and the gunman is in custody.

Other media outlets based in Richmond, Va., have reported that a VSP trooper has been killed, along with the gunman—and five other troopers are wounded.

Sources said the VSP troopers were at the bus station for a training exercise when the gunfire began.
