NEW YORK—You can ski, snowboard, or snowshoe for free right in Central Park this Saturday, Jan. 26.

No need to wait for snow either—snowmakers have been busy covering a swath of Central Park around the Bandshell on 72nd Street.

All equipment and participation is free, unless you are an experienced rider and want to sign up for the Red Bull MetroRail, “an open snowboard and ski rail jam,” according to a media advisory from the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Attention pet lovers: a Doggie Snow Zone with agility equipment is on the premises. In addition, there will be a dog treat bar, an Ask an Expert and other vendor booths, adoptable pets, and more.

There will be snacks from the Pride of New York Winter Market or the Unreal Candy Unjunked Ice Lounge.

The events start at 11 a.m. and run till 3 p.m. Enter Central Park at 72nd Street, the Bandshell is closer to the east side of the park.
