Oprah Winfrey’s cable network OWN enjoyed an impressive ratings boost, according to Reuters, with the Jan. 1 premiere of “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” a two-hour interview show hosted by Winfrey herself.

Since its launch a year ago, OWN has struggled to achieve the viewership it had hoped for.

Winfrey came on as chief executive of the network in the face of these challenges last year. Sunday’s show was seen by a reported 1.1 million people.

Meryl Streep to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

The distinguished career of actress Meryl Streep will be celebrated at this year’s Berlin Film Festival as she is honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Director Dieter Kosslick said in a statement, “We are delighted to be able to award the Honorary Golden Bear to such a terrific artist and world star. Meryl Streep is a brilliant, versatile performer who moves with ease between dramatic and comedic roles.”

The 62nd Berlin International Film Festival will take place Feb. 9–19.
