In a speech before the U.N. General Assembly on Sept. 23, President Donald Trump accused the international organization of leaving him alone with the task of global peacemaking.

I ended seven wars, dealt with the leaders of each and every one of these countries, and never even received a phone call from the United Nations offering to help in finalizing the deal,” Trump told the gathered assembly on Tuesday.

Trump went on to accuse the U.N. of failing to live up to its potential.

“At least for now, all they seem to do is write a really strongly worded letter and then never follow that letter up,” he said. “It’s empty words, and empty words don’t solve war.”

While he claimed credit for ending seven conflicts, Trump acknowledged that peace between Russia and Ukraine remains elusive.

During his U.N. speech, Trump said he could raise new economic pressure to force Moscow to the negotiating table, but said his allies in Europe would undermine such efforts if they didn’t stop purchasing Russian energy exports.

They have to immediately cease all energy purchases from Russia. Otherwise, we’re all wasting a lot of time,” Trump said of his European allies.

As his U.N. speech wore on, Trump turned his criticism toward the concept of globalism.

At one point, Trump blamed international policymaking efforts for leading individual nations to adopt immigration policies that give way to human trafficking.

Any system that results in the mass trafficking of children is inherently evil, yet that is exactly what the globalist migration agenda has done.”

Moments later, Trump said international efforts intended to combat climate change have seen successful developed nations adopt worsening energy policies and limit their economic competitiveness around the world.

In one example, he asserted that citizens in European nations that have prioritized climate action and green energy initiatives now pay four to five times more on their energy bills than individuals living in China.

The entire globalist concept of asking successful industrialized nations to inflict pain on themselves and radically disrupt their entire societies must be rejected completely and totally, and it must be immediate,” Trump said.

Following his U.N. speech, Trump met with European leaders and again pivoted back to the discussions surrounding the costly fighting between Russia and Ukraine.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote that after getting to better understand the Ukraine conflict and in light of the economic strain it’s causing Russia, “I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form.”

Trump’s social media post marks a shift in his attitude toward the conflict. The U.S. president had previously raised talk of land swaps and territorial cessions to end the fighting, and other members of his administration had cast doubt on Ukraine retaking all its pre-war territory.

During a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump also expressed support for NATO members shooting down Russian aircraft that cross into their airspace.
