Michigan State punter Mike Sadler and Nebraska punter Sam Foltz were killed in a car crash while returning from a training camp in Wisconson, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
A third man—LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye, 21, from New Iberia, Louisiana, was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. He has since been released, according to LSU.
The incident occurred when the car lost control on wet pavement, causing it to leave the road and hit a tree. Investigations say speeding appeared to be a factor in the crash.
ESPN reports that Sadler started for four years at Michigan State from 2011-14, where he earned first-team All-America honors in the 2013 season. Sadler was also excellent in his studies, becoming the first Spartan in school history to earn Academic All-America honors four times.
He was looking to attend Stanford Law School in the fall.

Foltz was a rising senior for the Nebraska Cornhuskers who was named Big Ten punter of the year during his junior season. Foltz had a punting average of 44.2 last season, which ranked 22nd in the nation.
Foltz was also the recipient of Nebraska’s Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award in 2016.
“Last night, we lost one of the best young men who I have ever had the honor to coach and who has ever worn the Nebraska uniform,” Nebraska head coach Mike Riley said in a statement via the Lincoln Journal Star. “Sam was universally loved and respected by everyone he touched and on whom he had a positive influence each and every day.”

Delahoussaye is a kicker for Louisiana State University. The trio were in Wisconsin to take part in the Kohl’s Kicking Camp held at a high school in Wales, reported Fox6 News. LSU head coach Les Miles also took to social media to offer his condolences.
