If there was any doubt about Denver Broncos superstar Peyton Manning being the greatest regular season quarterback in the history of the National Football League, he erased those questions from conversations on Sunday night. Manning now holds the record for most career NFL touchdown passes, and he is somehow seemingly improving with age. The Broncos are playing as well as any other team in the league, and they are becoming favorites to win the conference for the second straight season.
Week 8 NFL power rankings
32. Oakland Raiders (0-6): Do not at all believe Oakland can’t go east and win a game in Cleveland. That the contest begins at 4:25 pm ET.
31. New York Jets (1-6): Percy Harvin is a great get. Is he going to play in the New York secondary? No? Oh.
30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-5): The Bucs were off this past weekend. Did anybody miss them?
29. Minnesota Vikings (2-5): Minnesota’s offense is not getting it done. Some fans of the Vikings are wondering if the team drafted the wrong rookie quarterback.
28. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6): Jacksonville beating the Browns was the shock of the football weekend. That said, it isn’t enough to cause the Jags to leap up NFL power rankings this time around.
27. Tennessee Titans (2-5): It’s bad times at Tennessee. The Titans need more than just an upgrade at quarterback.
26. Washington Redskins (2-5): I’ve seen the Colt McCoy movie before. I think I know how it ends.
25. Atlanta Falcons (2-5): The Mike Smith era is coming to an end. It’s going to be an ugly conclusion the way things are going.
24. New Orleans Saints (2-4): There are real reasons to believe a New Orleans turnaround isn’t coming. Drew Brees is all of a sudden looking his age on football fields.
23. New York Giants (3-4): The New York offense was shockingly conservative at Dallas. It cost the Giants a win.
22. Chicago Bears (3-4): Chicago is winless at home this season, and players are calling teammates out when speaking with reporters. Not good.
21. Cleveland Browns (3-3): Losing to Jacksonville is a sign that the Browns weren’t yet prepared to deal with success. Johnny Football will see the field sooner than later if the book is out on Hoyer.
20. St. Louis Rams (2-4): Nearly as surprising as the Browns getting routed in Jacksonville was the Rams beating Seattle at home. That could prove to be the team’s Super Bowl for the campaign.
19. Houston Texans (3-4): Houston doesn’t have the goods to put a run together. The Texans aren’t elite on offense, defense or special teams.
18. Carolina Panthers (3-3-1): Don’t worry, Carolina. Aaron Rodgers can’t hurt you anymore (for now).
17. Cincinnati Bengals (3-2-1): It’s time to start wondering if many, myself included, overrated the Bengals. The Cincy defense has been ordinary as of late.
