WikiLeaks is claiming that a man climbed a wall of the Ecuadorian embassy in London where its founder, Julian Assange, has been residing since 2012.

“Male intruder at 2.47am climbed this wall of the Ecuadorian embassy in London where Assange has asylum,” Wikileaks said in a Tweet on Aug. 22.

According to Wikileaks the man “scaled the side wall+window of the Ecuadorian embassy” before fleeing after having been spotted by security.

The incident set off a flurry of speculation on social media.

Assange has been living inside the embassy since 2012 when he was granted political asylum by Ecuador. Because of an arrest warrant, stemming from an investigation in Sweden, he has been unable to leave the embassy to travel to Ecuador.

On Aug. 11 it was announced that Swedish prosecutors will question Assange inside the Ecuadorian embassy after Ecuador’s attorney general agreed to a request by Sweden. Assange is wanted for questioning over a rape and sexual molestation allegation, which he has denied.

Assange has said that if he were to go to Sweden, he would be taken to the United States due to the activities of WikiLeaks.
