"Sunday Night Football" (SNF) bowed to the World Series thanks to the Saints crushing the Manning-less Colts 62-7, prompting viewers to watch the much closer-contested Game 4 of the Fall Classic instead.

According to Nielsen overnight ratings released by NBC, the football blowout registered an 8.2 overnight rating and a 13 share compared with the World Series’ 10.1 rating and 16 share.

New Orleans led 21-0 after just one quarter, 34-7 at the half and 48-7 through three quarters. Meanwhile Texas pulled out a 4-0 win over St. Louis, in a game that was 1-0 heading into the sixth inning.

Last season the two went head to head with SNF, staring the Saints and Steelers getting an 11.8/18 compared with the Rangers/Giants World Series Game 4 10.4/16.
