Curfew Established Amid Anti-ICE Violence; Trump Says Iran Wants a Deal | NTD Good Morning (June 1)

New Jersey is blaming outside agitators for the violence at anti-ICE protests at an ICE detention center in Newark. Gov. Mikie Sherrill warned that “some national extremist groups” have become involved. The protests began more than a week ago after lawmakers from the Democratic Party raised concerns about conditions inside the facility, including allegations involving food and medical care. Newark has now imposed a nightly curfew around Delaney Hall as state police continue securing the area and warning that anyone who assaults officers or interferes with operations will be arrested. U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said the detention facility in New Jersey is holding murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and “serious criminals.”

President Donald Trump, writing on Truth Social, said that any deal reached with Iran will be a good one for the United States. The president criticized what he called “endless chirping” from Democrats and some Republicans over the pace and direction of negotiations, saying outside commentary is making diplomacy harder. War Secretary Pete Hegseth said the United States is ready to return to combat if a diplomatic solution is not found.

The NBA finals are now set, with the New York Knicks to face the San Antonio Spurs for the top spot. The Spurs knocked out the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday, with a final score of 111–103. The Spurs will host the Knicks for the first game of the finals on Wednesday.
