Faces of Prisoners of Conscience Light Up DC Buildings; US and China Extend Trade Truce | NTD Good Morning (Sept. 24)

Chinese regime leader Xi Jinping is in Washington for a three-day summit with President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, families of victims of the Chinese Communist Party’s brutal oppression are speaking out. The Human Rights Foundation has projected the faces of eight prisoners of conscience onto buildings in the heart of the nation’s capital. The foundation says its goal is to raise public awareness of the regime’s human rights abuses.

Trump and Xi are expected to discuss pressing global and bilateral issues, from rare-earth shipments to trade frictions. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has told Fox News that the United States and China have agreed to extend the trade truce known as the Busan Agreement until Jan. 10. U.S. officials have criticized Beijing for failing to meet its commitments, while Bessent says some deliverables have not been up to par.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to speak at the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Thursday. He said he would use his speech to defend Israel’s military actions in Gaza. He also accused New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani of supporting the Hamas terror group. Israel’s ambassador to the U.N. said earlier this month that Netanyahu would make a 24-hour visit to the General Assembly despite calls for his arrest from the International Criminal Court. Students from several Jewish schools say they are planning a prayer vigil outside the mayor’s official residence on Friday in support of Israel and Netanyahu.
