House Passes GOP Budget Resolution in Close Vote; Trump Signs Health Care Price Transparency Order | NTD Good Morning (Feb. 26)
The House of Representatives passed a GOP-drafted budget resolution on Tuesday night in a 217–215 vote, with a single Republican opposing the bill. The current framework includes $4.5 trillion in tax breaks and $2 trillion in spending cuts. NTD spoke with Paul Mueller, an economist at the American Institute for Economic Research, to discuss the framework needed to start policy negotiations for taxes, energy, border security, and immigration.
President Donald Trump has signed an executive order mandating price transparency in health care, requiring hospitals and insurers to disclose actual costs. Trump said the measure will be one of the most important steps toward lowering health care costs. A White House fact sheet states that 95 percent of American patients consider price transparency a priority, with six in 10 saying it should be a top priority for the government.
A Southwest Airlines plane nearly collided with a private jet at Chicago’s Midway International Airport on Tuesday. The Southwest crew had to abort their landing and perform a go-around to avoid an accident. The Federal Aviation Administration says it’s investigating the latest aviation incident, with preliminary data indicating that the private jet entered the runway without authorization.
