49ers Owner Jed York Pleads No Contest to Misdemeanor Charges Following Arrest

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York pleaded no contest on Monday to two misdemeanor charges stemming from his arrest over the weekend in Ohio.

The 46-year-old entered his plea in Columbiana County Municipal Court to charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools.

York was arrested on Sunday in East Palestine, roughly 20 miles south of Youngstown, following an investigation involving local police and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.

York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution, with prosecutors later amending the charge to disorderly conduct prior to his court appearance. The second charge of possessing criminal tools remained part of the case.

As part of the resolution, York received a one-day jail sentence on each misdemeanor, with the terms running concurrently.

He was credited with one day already served and released on $5,000 bond. He was also ordered to pay $1,150 in fines and complete an online course.

During the arrest, $160 was seized from York, and the amount was forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. His cellphone was taken as evidence, but was subsequently returned back to him as part of the plea agreement.

The Epoch Times reached out to the East Palestine Police Department for further information on the matter, but did not hear back by publication time.

The NFL said it was aware of the situation and would review it under the league’s personal conduct policy, while the 49ers declined to provide further details.

“As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time,” the 49ers said in a statement.

The case comes as the 49ers prepare for the 2026 NFL season. York took over day-to-day operations of the franchise in 2008 and became the team’s principal owner in 2024 after acquiring additional equity from his family.

During York’s tenure, the 49ers have reached the Super Bowl three times, following the 2012, 2019 and 2023 seasons, but have yet to win a championship during his leadership.

The team lost Super Bowl XLVII to the Baltimore Ravens in February 2013 under coach Jim Harbaugh, then fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV in February 2020 and Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024 under coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch.

York also oversaw the construction of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, where the team relocated from San Francisco in 2014.
