World number one Serena Williams beat Ana Ivanovic 6-1 3-6 6-1 on Saturday (May 17) to reach the final of the Italian Open. Williams suffered a lapse in the second set but fought back to beat Serbia’s Ivanovic in just under one hour and 37 minutes. The American will play home favourite Sara Errani in Sunday’s (May 18) final after the Italian won 6-3 7-5 against Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic.
