Trump to Meet With NATO Secretary-General; Flood Warnings Issued in Texas and NYC | NTD Good Morning (July 14)
President Donald Trump will meet with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte this week, after announcing that U.S. weapons will reach Ukraine via European states. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and members of Congress will also meet with Rutte. Trump said on Sunday that he hasn’t decided how many Patriot missiles to send but that the European Union would pay for them.
Heavy rains hit parts of central Texas on Sunday—including areas already reeling from last week’s catastrophic flooding, temporarily halting recovery operations. Residents received emergency alerts warning them of a high probability of flooding and urging them to evacuate. The death toll in Texas has now risen to at least 129, with more than 150 people still missing. New York City is now also facing the threat of storms, with a flood watch issued for parts of the city and Westchester County until Tuesday.
A preliminary report on last month’s fatal Air India crash that killed 260 people was released on Saturday, showing that the plane’s fuel cutoff switches were activated just three seconds after takeoff. Only one person on board survived. Air India CEO Campbell Wilson and India’s Civil Aviation Minister urged people to avoid drawing early conclusions from the preliminary report, as investigations are still ongoing.
