Trump Says Iran to Let 20 More Ships Through Strait; Backs Voter ID for Federal Elections | NTD Good Morning (March 30)

President Donald Trump says talks with Iran are going very well. The president told reporters aboard Air Force One that the United States is negotiating with Iran, both directly and indirectly. He also said that Iran has allowed 20 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz as a “sign of respect.” Trump also said the U.S. military is having enormous success, decimating the Iranian navy and air force.

Trump outlined the latest on the SAVE America Act, saying it would enforce new proof of citizenship and ID requirements for federal elections. Critics say it could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters, but the president dismissed those concerns.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents will start receiving paychecks on Monday, after Trump signed an executive order last week that would allow them to be paid despite the partial government shutdown. A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said more than 500 TSA agents have quit since the partial shutdown began, with thousands calling out. Border czar Tom Homan says Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are stepping in to help at airports during the ongoing shutdown, and that support will continue until operations return to normal.
