Trump Postpones Iran Power Plant Strikes After Talks; 2 Killed in Plane-Truck Collision at LaGuardia | NTD Good Morning (March 23)
President Donald Trump posted to Truth Social on Monday morning that he has given instructions to postpone any military strikes against Iranian power plants for five days. The post came just hours before the end of a 48-hour deadline he imposed that threatened further escalation into Iran.
A collision at LaGuardia Airport in New York has left two people dead. Late Sunday night, an Air Canada passenger jet collided with a Port Authority fire truck on a runway. At a press conference, Port Authority Director Kathryn Garcia confirmed that the pilot and co-pilot of the jet were killed. The National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the incident.
Starting on Monday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will be deployed to airports. Trump made the directive as lawmakers failed to make a breakthrough over the weekend on Department of Homeland Security funding. Agents will be deployed starting at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. They’ll help with crowd control and reduce wait times. Border czar Tom Homan said agents wouldn’t be screening people at security checkpoints, but would help where their expertise would suffice.
