The White House released details on Monday about an agreement that would give the United States access to 65 billion barrels of Venezuela’s oil reserves. The deal was brokered by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and interim Venezuelan leader Delcy Rodriguez through a partnership with private businesses, according to an Aug. 28 social media post from President Donald Trump.

A Utah judge has set a hearing for Tuesday to consider whether the case against conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin, Tyler James Robinson, 23, should go to trial. Judge Tony Graf Jr. also must weigh whether to uphold seven charges against Robinson, including one carrying a potential death sentence.

Rescue teams with search dogs combed through mud, rocks, and debris on Tuesday in Nepal and Tibet looking for thousands of people still missing after catastrophic flooding tore through communities across the Himalayas, leaving more than 1,000 dead. Nepal’s disaster agency said Tuesday that 939 deaths had been counted there, with 3,925 people missing, including 592 foreigners.
