Eileen Higgins is set to become Miami’s first Democratic mayor in nearly 30 years after a decisive runoff win. The race was called minutes after polls closed as she opened a commanding lead over Republican Emilio Gonzalez, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump. Higgins’s victory is drawing national attention ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Trump hit the road in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, making his case on affordability. He told an energetic crowd that his administration is driving down the cost of living nationwide. The president pointed to falling grocery and gas prices, rising real wages, and expanding oil, coal, and steel production. He said more relief is coming through tax cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
Australia is now the world’s first country to ban social media for users under the age of 16.
