Trump Signs Orders to Overhaul US Military; China’s DeepSeek AI Outpaces ChatGPT in US
President Donald Trump has signed several executive orders aimed at reshaping the U.S. military. These include orders ending DEI policies and addressing transgender service members. Other orders will reinstate service members discharged for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine and establish a new Iron Dome missile defense system.
China’s new AI app from DeepSeek has catapulted to the top of the market, beating U.S. competitor ChatGPT. The change has caused AI-related stocks to fall sharply and Trump to call for U.S. companies to innovate. However, analysis shows that the DeepSeek app appears to have a strong pro-Chinese Communist Party bias. It refuses to answer questions on topics the Chinese regime doesn’t normally discuss, such as the Tiananmen Square Massacre and the persecution of Falun Gong.
Newly released surveillance video obtained by a law firm shows what it claims is the start of the deadly Eaton Fire in the Altadena region north of Los Angeles. The footage allegedly shows sparking power lines, followed by fire crews battling an active fire. The law firm represents a woman whose home was destroyed in the wildfires and who is now suing for damages. The utility company named in the lawsuit, Southern California Edison, has denied its equipment started the fire.
