No Survivors Expected in DC Plane Crash; Hamas Releases 8 Hostages to Israel
A tragic midair collision occurred near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday night. The crash involved an American Airlines jet with 64 people onboard and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter. Officials say that crews are moving from rescue to recovery operations as authorities believe there will not be any survivors. The people on board the flight included figure skaters returning from the national championships in Kansas.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that 20-year-old female Israeli soldier Agam Berger has been released from captivity in Gaza. She was reunited with her family on Thursday. The IDF also reported that two other Israeli hostages and five foreign nationals were handed over to the Red Cross in Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip. Israel is expected to release another 110 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for these hostages. This marks the third hostage release since the cease-fire began earlier this month.
President Donald Trump signed the Laken Riley Act into law on Wednesday, which would require federal officials to arrest and detain illegal immigrants who have been accused of crimes such as thefts, assaults on police officers, or those causing death or serious injury to others. During the signing ceremony, Trump also announced a new order to send up to 30,000 illegal immigrants to Guantanamo Bay.
