Senate Passes Budget Resolution After Overnight Vote; 1 Body Released Is Not That of a Hostage | NTD Good Morning (Feb. 21)

Senators on Capitol Hill passed a $340 billion budget blueprint early on Friday morning, paving the way to fund President Donald Trump’s agenda on border operations, immigration enforcement, and defense spending. Meanwhile, House Republicans plan to vote on a separate budget approach next week.

The Israeli military says one of the bodies released by the Hamas terrorist group was not that of a hostage. Hamas was supposed to release the remains of Shiri Bibas, a mother of two children who were also abducted on Oct. 7, 2023. While the bodies of Bibas’s two young sons were returned, the body of their mother was not. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised that Hamas would pay for violating the conditions of the cease-fire.

Kash Patel passed a Senate confirmation vote on Thursday to become the new director of the FBI, with a vote of 51–49. All Democrats and independents voted “no,” with Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska joining the opposition. FBI directors serve 10-year terms, although the president does have the power to remove them.
