Officials have confirmed that the brush fires on New York’s Long Island are now under control, though strong winds still pose a risk. The fires, which burned 400 acres and prompted a state of emergency, are almost fully contained, with crews working to prevent further spread. The blazes damaged two commercial buildings, but no homes were affected. Two firefighters were injured, one with second-degree burns. Authorities are investigating the cause.
