US Deploys Search Teams to Venezuela; Trump Advances Regenerative Farming to Boost Food Supply | NTD Good Morning (June 26)
The death toll is climbing in Venezuela after two powerful earthquakes devastated the northern areas of the country. Officials have confirmed at least 589 deaths, with fears that the number will continue to rise. The United States is now mobilizing search-and-rescue teams and humanitarian aid as emergency crews race to find survivors. The Department of War is providing aircraft, logistics, and personnel to help move rescue teams and supplies into the affected areas.
President Donald Trump says he’s working to strengthen America’s food supply, after signing an executive order to expand regenerative agriculture practices. The order directs federal agencies to expand regenerative farming programs, advance research, and build partnerships to help farmers adopt new practices. The president said he’s also asked Congress for billions in supplemental relief payments for farmers.
Following a military funding request from the White House, Republicans are gearing up a third party line package. The package will be largely focused on replenishing weapons stockpiles and increasing funding for the military. In addition to providing supplemental funding, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is also trying to use this as a way to pass the SAVE America Act, but that idea has garnered pushback from House conservatives.
