Instant Noodles Recalled Nationwide Due to Possible Peanut Contamination

Multiple lots of instant noodles have been recalled because they may be contaminated with peanuts, the company that produces them said in a notice released by federal authorities on May 13.

Fly By Jing, the company, learned that packs of its creamy sesame noodles “may have been exposed to cross-contact from peanuts,” according to the company’s notice published by the Food and Drug Administration.

The recall covers single packs of Fly By Jing Creamy Sesame Noodles, as well as four-pack units of the same product.

The potential contamination was blamed on an unidentified third-party manufacturer that used equipment that also processes peanuts to manufacture the noodles.

“Peanuts are not an intended ingredient in Fly By Jing Creamy Sesame Noodles,” the notice states.

Fly By Jing, founded by a Chinese-American woman named Jing Gao, immediately stopped distributing the affected products and notified customers and retail partners.

The only product covered by the recall is Fly By Jing Creamy Sesame Noodles. The affected noodles were sold nationwide in retail stores such as Whole Foods and Thrive Market, as well as online through the Fly By Jing website, between Feb. 1, 2026, and May 8, 2026.

They have one of the following barcodes: 8-50052-23988-6 or 8-50052-23991-6, and a best-by date of Oct. 15, 2026, Dec. 6, 2026, or March 23, 2027. The best-by dates are on the bottom or back of the packages.

The noodles are described by Fly By Jing as an example of Sichuan street food flavors.

“These perfectly bouncy and chewy noodle strands are slathered in umami loaded sauce to create electric flavor,” the company’s website says.

Researchers estimate that about 4.6 million American adults, and 2 percent of children, are allergic to peanuts. Consuming peanuts despite an allergy can result in a range of reactions, including swelling and difficulty breathing. People with allergies who eat foods they’re allergic to sometimes require care at a hospital.

People with peanut allergies are being urged not to eat the sesame noodles.

“People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the recall notice says.

Consumers who purchased them can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Fly By Jing also said it has introduced enhanced safety procedures for its products, including “strengthened allergen-control procedures” with the third-party manufacturer.
