Headaches & Migraines
Headaches are common and thankfully, most don’t require a doctor’s attention. Most people can feel better by relaxing, hydrating with water, and taking pain relievers. A migraine is a severe headache with throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on one side of the head. It can be preceded by a sensory aura and is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Migraine attacks can last anywhere for hours to days, and can be debilitating. While some researchers believe genetic reasons cause migraine, there are also many external or environmental factors that can trigger migraines. There is no cure for migraines. Treatment focuses on relieving symptoms and preventing additional attacks. Certain natural treatments, such as riboflavin (vitamin B2), coenzyme Q10 or magnesium may help prevent migraines.
